Hope House

 HOPE HOUSE - CASA ESPERANÇA

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future. Jer 29:11

Hope House

Casa Esperança or Hope house is our home for street-boys where they can undergo a family and social reintegration program.  It's called Project Restoration because the goal is to restore the boys to a normal life again.

Often having lost even the will to live, Hope House is a place of hope, where the boys can begin to dare to dream once again.

They come off the streets having suffered horrific abuse, rejection and trauma.  Many, less than ten years old have been involved in a life of prostitution, drug abuse and crime.

At first they are unable to either trust or love.  They will sometimes try to save half their dinner to eat later, unable to comprehend that there will be more food on the table for breakfast in the morning.

Our program basically works in six areas: Spiritual, educational, family, physical, social and professional.  Most of all though we offer love.  The unconditional love and acceptance of the father heart of God.

Hope House

From Elisandra, 21 - One of the House Mothers:  Hope house is like a big family.  My husband and I are part of the house parents group.  Essentially this means doing everything a normal parent would do.

We are a type of father and mother, like a family reference as the boys haven’t often had this.  We wake the kids at 7.00 and make breakfast while the boys clean their rooms.  We also disciple the boys and pray with them.

The thing about being a substitute parent is that we feel the same things a real parent must feel.  Sometimes these emotions are very strong.  We ask the boys what they would like to pray about.

Sometimes they want to pray that God will give them a girlfriend.  Other times they will ask to pray about a father in prison or a sister who is involved with prostitution.

We often cry together.  We also dream.  We talk about what the boys would like to be when they grow up.  One wants to be a policeman, another a doctor.

The Lord gives us His heart of love for the boys.  We begin to have a new understanding of the Father heart of God and the pain He must feel for each of these.  ~ Elisandra
