Youth With A Mission

Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.
Doesn't he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?  LUKE 15:4

They're just little children, little kids.  They've often suffered horrendous abuse, violence, rejection, hunger.  But the Father is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.  So just like the farmer who lost just one sheep out of a hundred, we go looking for them - for the ones who are lost.  Projeto Pequeninos means - Project Little Ones.

Street Teams

This is one of our street teams ministering on the streets of Recife.  The children look forward to our visits.  Some of them are only five or six years of age. They're lost and unsure,  looking for even the smallest semblance of normalcy.

We offer them unconditional love and a time when they can relax in relative safety.  We sing, we pray, we color in.  Most of all though we just listen.  We listen, we accept and we love.  You see we're looking for solutions.

The first step in working with street children is to develop a relationship, find out their life history and then begin gently probing about the possibility of them returning to live with their own family.

If possible, visits are then made to the child's family for the purpose of providing the child's family with counseling, discipleship and support.  In many cases though, it's just not possible for the child to return to family life.  We will then attempt to move them to another phase of the project like Hope House or Casa Sarah.
